ACTIO CORPORATION ANNOUNCES MATERIAL DISCLOSURE.COM

Web Portal for Tracking Chemical Components

Portsmouth, New Hampshire, October 23, 2007 -- Actio today introduced Material Disclosure.com, a web portal designed to track raw material chemical components as they move through the supply chain. Based upon Actio’s chemical management platform, Material Disclosure.com will empower suppliers to enter complete chemical composition information into a product record. This information can then be accessed, at the supplier’s discretion, by manufacturers who are looking to evaluate or purchase the raw material.

“The number of product recalls over the past 6 months illustrates the difficulty large enterprises are having managing the chemical footprint of their supply chain. Not only are recalls expensive, they can permanently damage a brand’s reputation,” stated Russ McCann, Actio’s President. “Material Disclosure.com and Actio chemical management solutions track and manage the chemical supply chain from a raw material request to the final finished product, significantly reducing a company’s chemical liability.”

For the raw material supplier, Material Disclosure.com significantly reduces costs by providing a delivery platform for full-disclosure information and by reducing the time it takes to evaluate and subsequently purchase the material. Instead of responding to hundreds of requests per month, a supplier has a single standardized product record that can be instantly tailored to fit the requests of a particular manufacturer. Delivery of the information can be made via email, fax or secure login, all controlled by the supplier.

Manufacturers benefit by knowing in detail what chemical components make up their raw materials. Manufacturers are moving towards requiring this information prior to evaluating and purchasing material to reduce the likelihood of product recalls and to comply with global regulations like REACH, RoHS and WEEE. Often, trace amounts of a particular chemical can have a substantial impact on use and market accessibility. For manufacturers currently using Actio Gatekeeper and MSDS Vault, Material Disclosure.com will integrate with these modules to manage the request for full-disclosure information and will track the completion of the requested information while automatically managing the regulatory requirements for the material.
