Actio Regulator now features HAPtracker: automated screening of raw materials for HAPs, VOCs
PORTSMOUTH, NH April 4, 2009 – Actio Corporation, the leading provider of software for chemical management, today announced its new version of Actio Regulator. The new version features advanced emissions screening for compliance with environmental regulation and corporate sustainability initiatives regarding Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs) and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs).
Actio Regulator – now with HAPtrackerTM – is a secure, permissions-based, SaaS software module. The module breaks down chemical data into individual components and standardizes the unit of measurement. Regulator then cross-references component amounts – including HAPs and VOCs – across a department, facility, or enterprise.
Regulator reduces risk and streamlines compliance by automatically generating an audit trail of a chemical or substance as the inventory moves through the manufacturing or research process. Knowing specific quantities of substances being used enables threshold triggers to be set, notifying the manufacturer of an impending regulatory issue. Data for producing reports for local, state and federal regulations can be generated on demand for compliance. Regulator uses standardized bar coding techniques to generate unique labels for tracking inventory as it moves through a facility, from receipt to usage.
HAPtracker examines the chemical composition of raw materials and flags those components listed as hazardous air pollutants or volatile organic compounds. Flagged components are tracked against inventory data in Actio Regulator to maintain compliance with government-issued air permits and other regulatory parameters.
“Actio Regulator is updated with functionality for HAP and VOC tracking and reporting,” said Kal Kawar, EP, CIH, 30-year veteran of Environmental Health & Safety in manufacturing, also co-Founder of Actio Corporation. “HAP and VOC reporting is complicated with large volumes of operational data,” he explained. “Actio Regulator with the new HAP and VOC reporting provides a command and control environment so the manufacturer knows instantly where they stand with regards to their air permits.”
“Manufacturing companies use Regulator with HAPtracker for sustainability initiatives,” said Chris Nowak, Actio’s Director of Business Development. “They use it for HazCom labeling of new materials, bar coding, tracking materials through a facility, and reporting for green initiatives such as emissions and waste accountability. All those components are critical steps toward corporate sustainability, success in environmental compliance, and green initiatives,” said Nowak.
Regulator with HAPtracker integrates with all major ERP systems including SAP and Oracle. The application is delivered as Software as a Service and is available immediately.
